AFRC Simulator Training

The AFRC Simulator Operator Training Course is run over three days and is the first step towards becoming an AFRC Simulator (How to Become an AFRC Simulator.).

During the course participants will gain the technical knowledge and skills needed to use the software tools and backup resources to get consistent, correct results for glazing simulations.

Note that completion of this course does not guarantee acceptance by the AFRC Board as an AFRC Simulator.  Also note that AFRC accreditation does not allow you to submit simulations for audit purposes of your own companies products. All simulations for audit must be completed by an independent third party accredited simulator.

 

Entry requirements for the AFRC Simulator Operator Training

Applicants must meet these criteria:

  1. Hold a Computer Science or Engineering Degree and/or

  2. Have a detailed understanding of fenestration, working within the industry for a minimum of 3 years and

  3. Basic skills in CAD software or drawings 

  4. A need to use the software on a regular basis after the training

Applicants must also provide two referees who can verify that the applicant meets these conditions.

Applicants must fully complete the application form. The AFRC will verify the requirements and advise the applicant if they have been accepted into the training.

Pre-Course Reading:

Once participants have been accepted into the course they will be issued with the NFRC simulation manual and instructions what must be read prior to attending the course. There is a quiz based on the pre-reading that must be completed and bought to the first day of the training.

Participant to Bring:

A laptop with wireless internet capability. Minimum hardware requirements: 1.6 GHz processor; 13” display; DVD drive; 2 GB RAM, 320 GB hard drive and one USB port.

Course Assessment

Assessment comprises: The pre-reading questionnaire; attendance at the course; demonstration of the use of the software; supervised in class exam; post-course assessment that must be submitted within 30 days of the completion of the course. The total mark for the course is 100 with a pass mark of 85.

Note: The post-course assessment is optional however one of the conditions to become an AFRC simulator is that you must have passed this course which would require completion of the post-course assessment.
